Where the blower actually lives
This is the question that decides the whole visit, and most people have never been told the answer for their own kitchen. A hood that sounds strong and still lets grease settle is almost always an airflow problem somewhere along the run rather than a motor problem at the canopy.

Downdrafts are part of this, not a separate trade
A downdraft is a hood that has been asked to live in the counter: the same blower, filters and duct, plus a lift that raises the stack and puts it away again. When one stops rising the instinct is to pull at it, and that is usually the wrong move — the fault is normally in what drives the travel or in what tells the control the travel has finished. What hood work costs
Ventilation has no published band on this site, because a hood motor is not an oven fan and pricing it as one would be a guess dressed up as a figure. The repair is quoted after the diagnosis as a single number for parts and labour, and nothing is ordered until you have agreed it.
